KICK Learn to Swim FAQs
What makes kick a great swim school?
So many reasons!
- We are a privately owned swim school so there are no other members of the general public in the pool
- Small class sizes
- Excellent teachers who are mature, highly experienced and qualified
- A highly successful program
- A highly advanced filtration and UV cleaning system providing clean and hygienic water all year round
- Warm water always heated above 30deg
What qualifications do the teachers have?
All of our teachers have either Swim Australia or Austswim teaching qualifications, as well as CPR & a Working with Children Check. Our teachers are also required to complete a certain amount of training hours within the KICK program. These hours depend on the previous experience of the teacher.
How do we enrol?
If your child is over 3yrs old and has had previous lessons, we do need to do a short assessment (at no cost) to see what level they would swim within our program.
We highly recommend sending us an email to book an assessment as we do spend a lot of time in and around the pool and can get to emails outside of general office hours.
Droplets are primarily booked in only at the beginning of the term as we do prepare our weekly program and sometimes its tricky to catch up if you only join us halfway through. Again, best to send an email.
Once enrolled all parents will have access to their online account where they will be able to make a payment, print out receipts and update all their details.

When are the assessments?
We do assessments on Saturdays at 12:30pm. Bookings are required. Please send your booking request via email to [email protected].
When do I need to pay for the lessons?
Invoices are sent to our families and payment is required for the entire term upfront. We accept cash, EFT and Visa/Mastercard (credit cards do attract a surcharge).
What happens if we miss a class?
One make up class can be booked via the customer portal once a Notice of Absence has been submitted. For more details on Make up classes, please read our Terms and Conditions.
Is the pool warm?
Yes, we keep our water temperature at a toasty 31 plus degrees celsius (generally ranging from 32-33 degrees most days). For the best long term results we encourage swimmers to continue swimming lessons year round.
Where do we park?
There is street parking surrounding our building (Mona road & Darling Point Road). We suggest that the easiest parking is across the road, at the Edgecliff shopping centre where there is parking in both the Aldi (1.5 hrs free) & Coles (2hrs free) parking sections. The shopping centre carpark is a short walk to our swim school, down the hill towards Rushcutters Bay.
What are the term dates?
Our swimming term coincides with the NSW school term dates. Most terms run for 10 weeks and we always run a holiday intensive swimming program for kids during the holiday breaks. These programs give children the opportunity to swim every day for the week and most often children make huge improvements over the week.
What do I bring to my first Droplet lesson?
A Splash About Happy Nappy is compulsory for all children in the Droplets classes. We also require a disposable aqua nappy underneath the Happy Nappy. We sell the Splash About Happy Nappy at the swim school and you can purchase one on your first day. Disposable aqua nappies can be purchased from most grocery stores. Please see the terms and conditions for further details on our nappy policy.
What do I bring to my first Splasher, Super Splasher or Ripples class?
Children who are not yet toilet trained are required to wear a SplashAbout Happy Nappy with disposable aqua nappies underneath.
It is also a requirement for children in these levels to wear a swimming cap. Goggles are recommended although we do have practice time without goggles.
We sell nappies, goggles and caps so if you need to purchase any of these, please see our front desk manager when you arrive.

Who can we speak to about our child's progress?
We have a Supervisor at every shift who is there to help you with questions, make sure the children are swimming in the correct classes, change levels when the need arises and is a general point of contact for all teachers and parents. If you are unable to resolve an issue, best to send us an email and we will do our best to get back to you within a timely manner.
How do I apply for (and redeem) an active kids voucher?
We have detailed instructions on How to Apply for a Voucher from the Government, as well as how to redeem the voucher with us on our Active Kids page.
WHAT do you use for pool filtration?
At KICK we have a Triple Filtered System consisting of a water filter, chlorine and UV. The UV system enables us to keeps the pool super clean whilst reducing the amount of chlorine that is required, which means it is much gentler on the skin.
